Why Coaching, Change and Culture Belong Together
Coaching alone is not enough. Neither is change management. And culture cannot simply be imposed.
Drawing on our many years of experience working with leaders, teams, projects and organisations, we developed the oezpa 3-C Model:
Coaching – Change – Culture
Coaching at the Centre – Across Four Levels
At its centre is coaching – across four levels:
Person · Team · Organisation · Project
Ultimately, change is implemented by people. Leaders need to clarify their roles, teams need to develop new ways of working together, organisations need to adapt their structures, and projects need to translate change effectively into everyday practice.
Change Management Creates the Architecture for Change
Change management therefore surrounds coaching. It creates the architecture for change: stakeholder engagement, communication, participation, leadership alignment, change networks, training and practical implementation.
Culture – The Outer Layer
The outer layer is Culture – cultural development.
Our practical experience consistently shows that new processes, structures or systems only have a lasting impact when attitudes, mindsets, leadership behaviour, collaboration and informal rules also change.
A Typical Pattern in Transformation Projects
A typical pattern in transformation projects:
A new system is technically ready.
- The processes have been defined.
- Communication is underway.
And yet the transformation stalls.
At this point, the problem often no longer lies in the technology, but in roles, trust, collaboration, leadership or culture.
Change Across Multiple Levels
This is precisely why we never view change on just one level.
Coaching develops people and social systems.
Change management shapes the change process.
Culture anchors new forms of collaboration sustainably.
The Logic Behind the oezpa 3-C Model
This is the logic behind the oezpa 3-C Model.
Change begins with people – and only becomes sustainable when it reaches the organisation and its culture.
