Guidelines for admission into DBVC

Associate Coach

Pre-requisites for acceptance:

  • Young professionals (less than three years of coaching experience)
  • Coaching qualification and certificate of a training institute accredited by the German Federal Association for Coaching (DBVC)
  • Letter of recommendation by the Senior Coach (DBVC) who is in charge of the coaching curriculum at the training institute
  • Acceptance of the statues of the DBVC
  • The content of the DBVC Coaching Compendium "Coaching as a profession" are accepted as the rules of actions for professional coaching
  • Anti-cult statement
  • Applicants already fulfilling the membership criteria for a Coach (DBVC) or Senior Coach (DBVC) will not admitted as an Associate Coach (DBVC).

Professional Coach

Pre-requisites for acceptance

  • Bachelor of arts, Master of Business Administration or another university degree including further training in a coaching-related area of expertise
  • Exceptional case: successful training qualification (apprenticeship) and a further training in a coaching-related area of expertise.
  • Coaching qualifications including the certificate of the training institute
  • Indications of three coaching references (company / organisations)
  • Letter of recommendations after the obligatory interview by two DBVC members
  • Anti-cult statement

Required practical competences

  • At least five years of professional experience
  • At least three years of coaching experience
  • personal experiences in supervision or counselling while being in training

Required professional competence

  • Profound knowledge of organisational processes and structures, knowledge of leadership and of operational sequences etc.
  • Profound psychological knowledge
  • Professional order processing (filling of a contract)
  • Usage of empirically and scientifically based criteria of success

Required personal competence / professionalism

  • Reliable and professional presentation documents
  • Reliable address of the office
  • A sound economic well-being
  • Usage of an quality management system / participation in evaluative studies or peer reviews

Senior Coach

Pre-requisites for acceptance

  • Minimum age of 35 years
  • Bachelor of Arts, Master of Business Administration or another university degree including further training in a coaching-related area of expertise.
  • Exceptional case: successful training qualification (apprenticeship) and a further training in a coaching-related area.
  • Coaching qualifications including the certificate or the training institutes
  • Letter of recommendations after the obligatory interview by two DBVC members
  • Anti-cult statement

Required practical competences

  • At least seven years of professional experience, with three years of it in a company or organization relevant for the coaching market
  • At least five years of experience as a self-employed coach
  • Own leadership experience
  • Personal experiences in supervision or counselling while being in training
  • Significant amount of coaching related to the average work load.

Required professional competence

  • Profound knowledge of organisational processes and structures, knowledge of leadership and of operational sequences etc.
  • Profound psychological knowledge
  • Professional order transactions (filling of a contract)
  • Usage of empirically and scientifically based criteria of success
  • Required personal competence / professionalism
  • Reliable and professional website
  • Reliable and professional presentation documents
  • Reliable office address
  • A sound economic well-being
  • Usage of a quality management system / participation in evaluative studies or peer reviews
  • Intimate involvement and willingness to support our aims (contribution to experts’ panels, regional chapters or voluntary work)
